I thought that the book Divergent was very interesting. It was an action story with a female lead character, which was nice and refreshing. This book has a lot of details, and you have to be patient to get to the important parts. Something that could be condensed is when Tris is in school. However, I thought it was good to see what her life was like in Abnegation. The most interesting part at the beginning is when Tris talks about being nervous about choosing day. I think I might cut out the part where Edward gets a knife stabbed into his eye, because it was very disturbing, and he was only a minor character.

An important part that should be left in the story is choosing day. From this point on Tris really starts to change from being an obedient Abnegation member to a fearless Dauntless initiate. Something that could be changed is when they cut her hand and let the blood drop to the faction where she chooses to live. They could make it less bloody for people that don't like to see blood. They could do a finger prick, instead of cutting her whole hand.

Another important part of the book is the fighting scenes, because they show that Dauntless members are very tough, and they add more action to the story. They should definitely keep this part in the movie.

They should also keep the part where Tris finds out that her mother was a Dauntless, because it shows that, like Tris, she was also unhappy with the faction that she was born into. This shows the audience that Tris and her mother are a lot like each other.

Lastly, they should also keep the part where Tris ziplines a thousand feet to the ground, because she really enjoys it, and it helps her to realize that the Dauntless also believe in unity, and that "We are one", which is an important message.
